Let the Festivities Begin

The holiday festivities are starting this week and for many we have plans to either go celebrate Thanksgiving with our families,  or go to our in law's home, or perhaps even  friend's home. In this blog I decided to spend a little more on my festive outfit because it is a special day. I purchased the burgundy crop top and the lace burgundy skirt from Zara. I decided to go with one color and add a pair of nude color pumps that I got at a great price in target for just $29.99. Who doesn't need a pair of nude shoes in their closet? Another item worth purchasing is the cape scarf from Uniqlo for just $19.99. It is very warm and worth every penny. Remember, this is a holiday to give thanks for all the things you have. Create Your Own Style

I finally got to wear my new booties and clutch that I received from Call it Spring. These are boots that you can use every day and they are also very comfortable. Right now is a great time to buy because they have a 30% off by using the code BOOTS30 at their stores or when you buy online. I paired my boots with black jeans from H&M and a sleeveless gray sweater from forever 21.

Nostalgia

Reliving an era from the past such as the 1920s is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed dressing up and making believe that I was one of the "Flappers" from that time period. I learned a little on how to re-create a makeup look from that era with YouTube sensation Michelle Phan. Check her out. I went to forever 21 and found this great head accessory on sale for $3.99 so I had to buy it. I think without it my outfit wouldn't have been complete. During the summer I happened to purchase a white dress from forever21 for just under $30. When I did my make up and put on my head band the dress looked like it was from that time. You can always have fun dressing up for parties especially during this time of the year. If you're looking for party ideas try setting up a costume party from different eras; that can always be fun

When in Doubt Wear Black

This past Saturday I attended a wedding for some friends of mine. The days prior to the wedding I had some trouble thinking of what to wear and what color should the outfit be, and then I realized that one can never go wrong going to a wedding with a classic color like black, since black is timeless. I found this dress at forever 21 (I think they have gone a long way and have had some great pieces lately). The dress was perfect for the occasion since it looked classy with a touch of sexy showing off my back, and it was just under $35. I didn't add much jewelry because the dress and the shoes spoke for itself. Also, thanks to my handsome husband (who was my model for the day) his look framed me very well.

Autumn Air

This weekend I took a trip with my family to Bear Mountain Park and it was such an amazing experience. The day was perfect and the sun was shining. This week I found some fabulous items to include in my photo shoot. I came across this company that sells basic clothing, and I purchased a white t-shirt from AMVI collection. I have been looking for a v-neck for a while now but none of the ones I have purchased has fitted this good. The material feels so soft and it's made in America. I paired the t-shirt with some high waisted black jeans that I bought from H&M and also with last year's suede burgundy booties from Call it  Spring, which were still in perfect condition. I topped the outfit off with two pieces that are in this : An oversized scarf from Zara, and a western styled fedora hat. Try this look this season.

Fall Fashion; So it Begins

In this new quest to find a great item for fall season I happened to come across three great items instead; they are perfect for fall season. I went into H&M and found this fabulous mustard yellow fine knit sweater for $24.99 and that is how it all started. Next, I needed to pair it with some boyfriend jeans which I found at Forever 21 for just $27.90. It was a great price for boyfriend jeans and they were also fit wonderfully. Last but not least I went to target to pick up some items for the home, and you know when you go to Target it means that you will most likely be going home with more items that weren't initially on your shopping list. That's exactly what happened to me; I found these wonderful looking burgundy Dixie pumps for just $39.99 from Sam & Libby. Stay tuned for next week's quest to find a fall jacket.

A Stroll in The Park

This week's fashion find is a marsala colored (The color of 2015 according to Pantone) zipper shirt dress from forever 21. It is a great dress for the fall. Not only did it cost just $24.90 but it also fits great on the body. I paired this outfit with beige booties that I bought from Target 2 years ago. I added a belt, but you can wear it without a belt and it still looks great. This outfit is a great buy whose look you can easily change up every time you wear it by adding different accessories.

Fall For Fashion

Green is one of my favorite colors this fall. I bought a cute pleated high neck dress from Forever 21 at an amazing price of $24.90. The fit of this dress is very flowy. You can change the look of the dress by adding a belt like I did, and instantly your look changes. Recently, I changed my hair color for the fall and I love the way the color stands out with this dress. I wore Dolce Vitas shoes that I bought last year from Macy's. They are still in great condition. I added burgundy touches with a Forever 21 purse that I purchased last year.

Farewell to Thee

Saying goodbye can be one the hardest things to do, and for me saying goodbye to summer causes me to feel a sense of sadness. I love this season even though for me one of the best seasons for fashion is fall. But, I can't deny the fact that I love summer weather and the easy going clothing one wears during this season. This final summer weekend post shows me wearing a pair of denim shorts that I bought last year from Uniqlo on sale for $19.99. They are so comfortable and it is also the perfect length. I added an over the shoulders shirt that I bought from forever 21 for $26.99; it is a great summer top. I went my favorite comfortable sandals this season that I purchased at DSW from Franco Sarto for $49.99 (Don't mind the price because they will last you this summer and even next summer, and they feel great). I used this outfit for the beach day and I wore my favorite high waisted bathing suit bottom from urban outfitters that I bought on sale for $9.99, good price and great fit. I paired it with a white forever 21 bathing suit top for $14.99. I don't like goodbyes so instead I'll say, so long summer; until next year. Now, onto the next season: Fall fashion!

Black is Beautiful

Black is such a universal color. It is a color that goes well in any season and with any  color. You can never go wrong with the color black;  it's such a classic color. This look is an all black look from the shoes to the blazer. I love this black jumpsuit that I bought from Forever 21 for $27.99; it's a great price for a one piece. I also wore black Vince camuto that I bought last year on sale from Macy's for $39.99. I added a bit of a manly touch to this look with a chic black blazer that I purchased at H&M for $34.99. I love this blazer; it has been my favorite piece this summer so far. And, once again I kept it simple with a two piece necklace from Forever 21 ($6.90). Remember when in doubt wear black! 

Shortly Coming to an End....

This summer has been about barbecues, beaches, pools, and spending precious quality time with the people you love. What better outfit to go with this laid back summer than rompers. They are great because it is just one item and you don't have to struggle too much to put it on; just slip it right on and go about your day. You can wear it for nearly any summer activity, and you can even dress it up by just adding some heels, a clutch, and jewelry. The romper that I picked is from H&M and I got lucky with this item because I found it on sale for $15. It has the perfect color for any skin complexion and is good for any shape and body type. I decided to go to the  beach for a little photo shoot. The sandals that I used were from Franco Sarto  that I got from DSW for $49.99. This time I also added tattoo jewelry that I bought from snaptattoos.com. They have a nice selection to choose from and it also goes great for the beach because it can get wet and won't fade away nor peel. We are near the end of summer so don't forget to enjoy the rest of your summer; for one of the few things that is guaranteed in life is the present moment; therefore enjoy it to the fullest! 

Summer Blues

I came across this blue jumpsuit while I was shopping at H&M. I fell in love with it from the moment I laid eyes on it. The outfit is a little pricey perhaps for some for $59.99 but the way it fit my body and the quality of the fabric made the purchase worth it. The jumpsuit is great for work, or for an evening date. I decided to wear it for a dinner date with the hubby. I wore the perfect shade of red suede heels that I also got from H&M for just $39.99. I think it complemented the outfit perfectly. As always I don't use too many accessories so I kept it simple with rings and a necklace that I bought at forever21 both under $15.  I also got these great sun glasses from Urbanoutfitters for just $18.99. Finally I decided to go with a nice clutch bag from H&M for just $9.99.

Wedding Bells are Ringing

This time of year we get to see a lot of friends and loved ones getting married. It is a beautiful occasion and a moment to spend time with family and friends. But, one of the hardest things to do prior to the celebration is finding the right dress for the event. This process may take a long time and for most of us we need to start shopping early because if we leave it for the last minute we might end up with something that we are not satisfied with. In this blog I have picked a great dress for a wedding. The dress was bought at Lulus.com ($57). I know for some it is hard to do internet shopping but Lulus has a great selection of dresses for weddings and for any occasion, and they have a free return shipping policy. The dress has the perfect color for any type of season; from a summer wedding to a winter one. The dress has a great length, and the split on the side gives it an elegant sex appeal; allowing you to show the perfect amount of skin. Usually I am a person that doesn't use a lot of accessories, and this particular dress has the ability stand out on its own, but of course adding extras to the dress only enhances the overall look. The little touches I added to this dress were two simple silver bracelets that I bought from H&M ($9.99) and shoes from zara ($39.99 on sale); they go perfectly with the dress because of the silver cuffs. Remember that after you find the perfect dress just relax and enjoy the ride, and have fun making memories with your loved ones.

Gone Burgundy

A simple inexpensive dress goes a long way. I purchased this burgundy dress at forever 21 for just $15.99. The price was the first reason why I bought this dress, and the second reason that sold me was how comfortable it was and the way I could dress it up. The color was perfect for this Sunday and I added nude sandals from Anne Michelle that I purchased at a thrift store for just $12.99. You can find great things at thrift stores if you are patient enough to search for them. I also added little touches of turquoise with my jewelry that I purchased from H&M for under $10. Just that alone made the dress seem like it was worth more. Be inventive; just because you cannot afford more expensive brands does not mean your outfit cannot be displayed as if it's worth more

Last weekend my husband and I went to Cape May for an anniversary getaway. We usually go to Miami to celebrate our anniversary but this time we decided to do something different, and we came across Cape May in New Jersey. The drive from NYC to Cape May was three hours. It was a great little road trip with the hubs; listening to music and having great conversations along the way. The moment we arrived at Cape May we knew we were going to have a great getaway and it was going to be a different experience altogether. We booked The Virginia hotel, which was a real gem. It is a beautiful Victorian house and our room was so lovely. We even had a balcony (perfect for our daily complimentary breakfast). The beach was so beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. We paid for a beach cabana which was a great idea because we had our own little nook on the beach. I wore my white vintage bathing suit from forever 21 (top 14.99 and high bottoms 14.99) with a blue Kimono from forever 21 (24.99). My first night out we decided to eat at the Ebbitt Room. For the night out I wore wide leg pants from forever21 ($19.99), a crop top also from forever 21 ($9.99) with brown sandals that I bought from H&M ($39.99), and finished the whole look with a tuxedo blazer from H&M ($34.99). This outfit was perfect for the beautiful cool night in Cape May. On our second day we to checked out some interesting things that the town had to offer. We went to the lighthouse, and at the beach by the light house there was a bunker that was built during world war 2 that was fascinating to see. I love history so it was nice to see something that was over 70 years still standing. I wore a thin sleeveless black shirt from H&M ($9.99) and blue high waisted shorts also from H&M. I decided to wear nude string sandals that I bought from Lulus for ($21.99). After the light house we went to Plum Beach farm, which was in the same town that lot of the local restaurants use their ingredients from. It was relaxing and nice to walk around the farm just looking at the chickens and pigs, and all the vegetables and fruits. After the farm I changed my outfit and wore shorts from h&m ($12.99) and a silk sleeveless shirt also from H&M ($17.99), which I actually got on discount for ($4.99) and some comfortable leather heels also from H&M ($39.99). We went to a beach called Sunset Beach; an amazing beach for watching sunsets. When we came back to the room I changed my shoes to black Vince Camuto shoes that I got from Macy's on sale last year ($39.99), and added a black blazer, which changed the whole outfit by giving me a more appropriate look for dinner at the Blue Pig Tavern. I had an amazing time in Cape May, and I will definitely come back. I highly  recommend the hotel and all the restaurants that I visited this weekend. 

Beach Ready

Memorial Day is right around the corner and I want you to be ready for that day. This post is about the essentials for a beach day. You cannot go without the right bathing suit, which is one of the main items you should have every summer. I chose the retro high waisted bikini because this bikini goes perfectly with any body type. It covers the right places and gives you a nice shape as well. It is a must have bathing suit this summer. I also decided to go with a crochet cover up. This piece is not a bathing suit cover up, but as I did you too can use any dress or kimono that you would like for the beach; because one can still have style on a beach day. I also purchased these great faux crisscross leather sandals; this style is very comfortable and it is a hit this summer so make sure you get yourself a pair. I got them in red to give this outfit a pop of color. It goes great with the white and beige color palette that I have going on in this picture. Finally, you can add the accessories like this straw hat to keep the sun's rays away from your beautiful face. Remember to always protect your skin from Sun damage.  Now of course you cannot go to the beach without sun glasses, and my favorite pair so far that go perfectly with my face is the aviator shades. I got these particular aviators from Ray-ban. YRemember, you should always try on different styles to see what suits you best. Most importantly, don't forget to have fun and take lots of pictures this upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Hashtag rumastyle so I can see your different looks.

Uncaged

Some say that the first time one should wear white is after Memorial day but I believe that you can wear white any time of the year as long as you wear it with confidence. To celebrate mother's day I decided to wear a shirt dress that I bought from H&M ($34.99). The material is of good quality and feels light. This outfit can be dressed up in the way that I am wearing it; with Anne Michelle nude heels that I happened to find in a thrift store ($12.99). This outfit can also be dressed down by wearing flats. And, on this special day I want to wish a very Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful moms that are reading this post.

One With Nature

In this shoot I got inspired by both nature and the bohemian style. These two things go great together. It is soothing to feel and see the way the trees flow when the wind blows against it and as a result this inspired me to get this dress for the shoot. The color and feel of this dress was soft, and was also a great contrast against all the green that surrounded me. I really loved how this dress caused me to stand out in a lovely way amidst beautiful nature. I bought this long blue dress from Forever 21($27.90), and in order to continue that bohemian airy feel I decided to go with simple flats that I also purchased from Forever 21 ($12.99).
